Canadian Great Divide Route : In the summer of 2007, my father and our two friends, Ron and Steve, pedaled along the Canadian section of Adventure Cycling's Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Banff to Fernie, British Columbia. Along the way we encountered grizzly bears, bull moose, coal mines, secluded places, places overrun by tourists, mostly great riding, a stretch or two of dusty monotonous riding, a day of abysmal forest-fire smoke, phenomenal campsites, crummy campsites, and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. You see it all when you travel by mountain bike and I wouldn't have it any other way.
